Gutter Installation and Replacement Canberra

At ACT Now Roofing Canberra, we not only look at your roofs, we also look after your gutters. Because one is not really complete without the other.

Roofs are designed to protect those inside from the elements such as the sun, wind and rain, but did you know properly designed gutters protect your property and the roof itself from the effects of all that water?

Gutters move water off the roof and away from your property. If gutters suffer from leaks, water will flow down the home’s exterior and possibly pool at the foundation of the house; this could cause erosion at the base of the house which would expose your foundations to the elements.

This may mean leaking and cracking in your home’s foundations, and that is an expensive thing to repair.

Similarly, if some problem or defect is stopping the water from flowing down the drain pipe, the water could fill up the gutter, spilling over on to the roof (or once again, flowing down the walls to the foundation of the house.)

Roofs are designed to ensure water flows off; pooling rain causes extra stresses to form in the roof, and this might lead to weak points, or rust and rot and leaks.

It is important to ensure that your gutter is repaired, but there may come a time when a repair is not enough, and the gutter needs to be replaced.

Or, you may have decided to replace your roof. This often means that you might also have to replace your gutters.

Or … you are simply building a new house; you need to install a roof, and you also need to install some gutters.

Whatever the reason might be, at Act Now Roofing Canberra, we are your Gutter Installation and Gutter Replacement experts.

Sometimes people think that if you’ve seen one gutter, you’ve seen them all. However, gutters come in a number of different types; within each type there are a number of different profiles. Also, gutters can be made from a number of different materials.

The most common guttering type in Australia is the Fasica Gutters. This type of gutter combines the fascia (which is the long straight board that runs along the lower edge of the roof), with the gutter itself.  Because these fascia gutters can be easily seen from the ground, there are many designs available with fascia gutters.

The most common profile is the Quad Gutter. A guttering profile defines the shape of the gutter. Different profiles are better suited to different weather conditions, in particular heat and rain. The Quad Gutter profile is also known as ‘D’ guttering. If you take a cross section of the gutter, the base and sides are all fairly flat. Other guttering profiles are more curved.

And finally, there are the different guttering materials.
Aluminium is light and rust-proof, but might be a little weak.
Galvanised steel is strong, but requires more maintenance as it is not rust proof.
Stainless steel keeps its shiny looks, stays strong and rust-free, but is expensive.
Copper is probably the best material for gutters as it is the strongest, longest lasting and looks the best. It however, is the most expensive.
And vinyl is the cheapest and easiest to install, but may degrade in the hot sun over time.

When determining which type of gutter to install, there are a few decisions to be made. But you don’t have to be alone in making that decision. Call us now for all of your gutter installation and replacement requirements, and we will help you find the right gutters for your individual situation.
